Lower School Program & Curriculum
“With a curriculum designed to foster creativity and nurture curiosity, the Lower School provides its students with a foundation and the tools needed to become life-long learners.”
Lower School students follow a carefully crafted educational journey that encompasses Language Arts, Mathematics, Reading, Science, Social Studies, and Writing. The teachings of the Catholic faith are at the very center of the academic program.
With an average class size of 14, teachers customize the curriculum to meet the learning styles and needs of their students. Teachers are able to work individually with their students and can provide enrichment opportunities for students who need to be challenged and remediation for those who need additional classroom support.
Each grade level participates in resource classes on a weekly basis and include Art, Library, Music, Physical Education, Spanish, and Technology. These enriching classes provide our students with cross-curricular opportunities and hands-on activities that are engaging and reinforce the units that are being studied in the classroom. In addition, there are numerous opportunities for experience-based learning through participation in field trips and special programs. Programs such as the Maymont Foundation Animal Adoption, BSH class gardens, and participation in the liturgy, help our students to lead a life of service.
Every grade level brings new and exciting experiences that will help enrich and develop students that are well-rounded.
